The Dallas Cowboys have had a rough season and I mean, extremely rough. The NFC East isn't getting much better but could the Cowboys? Let's go back and take a look at the downfall. Right now they are 2-7 and last in the division. Not only have they lost their starting quarterback, Dak Prescott but they also can't manage to get their defense in order. At first things didn't look too good until a comeback win against the Atlanta Falcons and then there was hope, until that game with the New York Giants in week 5. Dak is out for the year with an ankle injury in the third quarter, Andy Dalton managed to scrape together a win but the Cowboys looked hurt, actually they looked absolutely destroyed.

It was a murder scene every single game after that, running through quarterbacks trying to see who worked. Andy Dalton and Ben DiNucci being rotated like a carousel. SportsCentre, Get up all the morning talk shows absolutely trashing 'America's Team'. The defense was in shambles, the offence were being led blindly and confused about what exactly they were supposed to do and once again hope was lost. Embarrassing loss after loss, everyone thought that was it for the Dallas Cowboys and they would sink to the bottom of the division like the titanic, until week 9.

Cowboys against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dallas and there was a new face in the quarteback position, no Andy or Ben or even Cooper Rush but a Garret Gilbert. The game started and Dallas was first to put points on the board, points that no one thought could have been made. The offence started clicking, Ceedee Lamb and Amari Cooper were catching deep throws, Zeke and Pollard running through the Steelers D-line and making downs, they confused the hell out of TJ Watt. Things were looking up as the defense were making tackles and playing man to man coverage. Old Sean Lee came in some drives to show that he still had it, Vander Esch was doing his job and analyzing the field. The Cowboys lost that game, but hope was restored.

For the first time in weeks there was stability throughout the entire team, it looked functional. Steelers fans were nervous in the last few minutes because they thought maybe Cowboys could take the game and ruin their unbeaten record, that didn't happen but that's not the point. The point is that if the Dallas Cowboys come out and play the way they did against the Steelers for the rest of the season, they could make a comeback and take the division because it's not that hard to do. Cowboys fans are looking for anything to hold onto and they were given a life line that Steelers game, now the question is. Is that too much to ask for?
